He invented the telephone and he also invented a way to help deaf people hear.
Bells successes include:
Alexander Graham Bell, arguably, was the inventor of the telephone. Some people say Thomas Watson, Inocezzo Manzetti and other people should be given credit, too. The reason why it is hard to give full credit to one person is because many people kept building on the idea of a 'speaking telegraph' until Bell came up with the final product.
He also helped in the invention of the first crude metal detector, to try to detect the bullet the President of the United States was shot with, but unfortunately did not succeed with this. Although, this invention did help save hundreds of people's lives over the next 20 years.
Alexander Graham Bell is most famous today for having invented the telephone, but he was also responsible for early versions of the phonograph, the metal detector, the audiometer (a hearing detector), the hydrofoil boat, and even a selenium-based battery. He also came up with the basic principles of recording information to magnetic media, which decades later, would lead to the creation of the cassette recorder and the floppy computer disc.
You put two hydrofoils. He inproved it the second time, then he invented the hydroplane.
