This depends on which gospel is relied on for an account of what Jesus did:

Mark's Gospel originally ended at verse 16:8, with the young man telling the women that Jesus was risen, and they told no one. The "Long Ending" (verses 16:9-20) was added long afterwards to provide the necessary resurrection appearances and to more or less harmonise Mark with Matthew and Luke.

Matthew's Gospel says that Jesus met the two women returning from the tomb and said to tell the disciples to go to Galilee. Jesus met them in Galilee and left final instructions to preach to the world.

Luke's Gospel says that Jesus met two on the road to Emmaus and had a meal with them and disappeared from their sight. That evening, Jesus appeared to the disciples in a room in Jerusalem, showed them his wounds and ate a piece of fish, proving that he was not just a spirit. He led them out onto the road to Bethany, where he ascended bodily to heaven, the same evening as his resurrection.

John's Gospel says that Jesus appeared near the tomb to Mary Magdalene, who thought he was the gardener. That evening, he appeared to ten of the apostles in a room, with Thomas missing. Eight days later, he again appeared to all the apostles together in the room and showed Thomas that he really was Jesus. He next appeared at the Sea of Galilee, where he told the disciples to cast their nets on the other side, and they caught many fish. He did other things, to many to write in a book.

Acts of the Apostles, although by the same author as Luke's Gospel, says that Jesus appeared on earth for forty days, providing many proofs that he was risen. He then told the disciples not to leave Jerusalem, and ascended bodily to heaven.

John 20:17 Jesus said to her, "Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and toMy God and your God.' "

John 20:17 is the first command of resurrected Jesus and this reveals what Jesus accomplished through His death and resurrection. Through His death and resurrection the Human Jesus made the connection between God and the disciples (believers). What Jesus is saying here is that His Father is their Father and human Jesus' God is their God. This is the blessed state of a believer attained by grace through the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Anyone can have this blessed state of having the Father and God of Jesus by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Otherwise, you do not have God. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:6). But as many as received Him (Jesus), to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name (John 1:12). Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Act 4:12)." For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus (1Timothy 2:5).

Some have suggested based on John 20:17 that Jesus is not God but failed to understand the meaning here. First chapter talks about the Deity of Jesus. John 1:1 and 14 says "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."
