Some important characteristics are that is only made of ice, meaning that if all of it were to melt you wouldn´t find land under it. During the winter it grows in size and connects to the main land. Because of this, we find mainland predators such as bears, foxes and wolves. That is why there aren´t any Flightless Birds in the artic.
