Nutritionally, they are prime sources for (5R)-[(1S)-1,2-dihydroxyethyl]-3,4-dihydroxyfuran-2(5H)-one and 4,5-Bis(hydroxymethyl)-2-methylpyridin-3-ol (vitamins C and B6), potassium and manganese as well as being low in fat.
