How Electric Guitar Chords and Scales Are UsedWell, if you mean actually on the guitar, they are the building blocks of any song. The chords are the combinations of notes played in songs. Scales are mostly a practice routine, but you can build basic songs out of scales. On paper, scales and chords intstruct you where to put your hand on the guitar. For example

3----

3-----3-

2-----------

--3-------------

though the notes are progressing to diffent frets you would keep your hand on the G chord.

Scales can also be used to help write a guitar solo

A great way to learn about using scales and chords together is by listening to and learning 'little wing' by jimi hendrix. In this song, he plays chords, and then uses notes from scales (that relate to those chords) to form nice melodic parts.

scales can be used and improvised within to create scales and chords are chords, you just put them together in what ever way sounds good.

it all depends, most of the time it is just normal chords you know a b c d e f g... so on and so fourth, but as where you would have used a capo, you use a bar chord. there is a bar chord for every regular chord.

Chords are used to make any style/piece of music more lively/down and more fluently

Another answer:A chord is (usually) three or more notes which are sounded together. A chord represents the harmony at a particular point in a piece of music. When different chords are played in sequence, they create movement of the harmony, which can guide, support and enrich the melody.

The strings when strum vibrate causing the air around them to move. This makes the sound. When you place a finger on a string at the end where the tensioning keys are produces a larger waveform than when you place a finger on the fret closest to the bridge. When this occurs the waveform is smaller and the pitch of the tone higher

A chord is multiple notes. There are an almost infinite number of permutations, I would recommend guitar lessons to learn more about them.
