I'm not an expert but horse riding is very dangerous and there is always chances that you could fall off your horse or be dragged. Because it can be so dangerous riders must be sure to follow safety instructions such as wearing a helmet.

Horses kick. So stay at least one horse leanght behind them. i.e. pretend there is a horse exactly behind the one you are behind and staybehid your pretend horse.

also horses cant see in front of them directly so always put equipment on from the side never directly into their face

There are many different dangers for a horse, from being tangled up in wire, stepping on a nail, getting cut or caught up on scrap wood or metal hanging around the pasture, getting kicked or bitten by a dominant horse, getting mauled by a bear, cougar, wolves, coyotes, or stray dogs, getting bit by a snake, over eating resulting in colic or founder, risk of breaking a leg when tripping over something or landing in a gopher hole, to being abandoned by the owner and left to starve and dehydrate to death and/or being inhumanely treated by their owner. The list goes on....

A horse is a prey animal, so in the wild they are hunted by big cats, such as cougars, and by wolves or coyotes.

Perceived by Horses

To a horse, a threat is anything that has changed, wasn't there the day before, or that seems scary to them (ex: a plastic bag moving in the wind, a big red tractor that was moved from one spot to another). They react to these as they would to an actual threat such as a predator, or a harmful animal such as a snake.

Possible lead from older paint that contains lead in it, splinters from worn/cracked wood, horse is standing in its own urine and feces which weakens the hooves, a horse may panic if a person or animal comes up behind it unexpectedly, etc.

A horse can step on you, bite you, or kick you. If you are riding a horse, you can fall off or it can throw you.
