Die is the singular of Dice. "Dies" is an erroneous word. "Throw the Dice" means you have a couple in your hand or cup etc; when playing a game.

There may be some confusion with another meaning for the word with respect to gaming hardware. The electronic circuit which is mounted inside integrated circuits such as memory devices and microcontrollers etc, is also called a die. Many dice (plural again!) are fabricated on a silicon wafer during mass production of these devices. They are highly fragile before encapsulation and are produced in a very special environment. Their solid state ruggedness results from their encapsulation into an integrated circuit There are many such devices in electronic gaming equipment, and of course all electronic equipment.
