Even American citizens who have never been convicted of anything cannot give citizenship to an immigrant. There are only four ways to become an American citizen: # Be born in the United States, # Be born anywhere but have parents who are citizens, # Complete the legal process for becoming a citizen, including meeting residency requirements, taking the test and reciting the oath, # Be made a citizen by special Act of Congress.
There are two different ways in which a natural born citizen can be created. By American law, all people born on American soil are considered natural born citizens. In addition, people who are born overseas to American parents are also classified as natural born citizens.
There is not 4 ways, but two. If you are born in the US you are a citizen and if you are from another country you can be naturalized a citizen. Children born to an American citizen are automatically citizens and children born in places like a military base are also citizens no matter where the base is located.

There are several different ways to become an American citizen. For example, some people are admitted as refugees, in which case they do not have to have desirable work skills. Some people are admitted because they marry an American citizen or have other relatives who are citizens. And of course, people who are born in America are automatically citizens, regardless of any skills they do or do not have.
There are actually 7 ways, but mainly becoming naturalized in another state, working for a foreign govt or committing treason.
