Lydia Darragh served as a spy for the patriots during the American Revolutionary War. Lydia was a Quaker, and was tutored at home while living in England. She ended up marrying her tutor, and they moved to the United States to escape persecution. During the Revolutionary War, British soldiers confiscated her home for meetings. She was able to ease-drop, and get messages back to the Continental Army of what their plans were.
Lydia Darragh was famous for being a spy. she was liveing in her house when the British knocked on her door and they had the right to live in her house but she was in the religious society of rights. And told them they could have a room. so one of the rooms of her house was the conference room. then she heard the British over talking. And then she told them that she needed to buy flour and such and she did so they let her go. she knew she would see someone from the Continental army so she wrote in a book and when she did meet someone from the continental army she would give it to him and tell him to give it to George Washington because it was that the British where going to go and secretly attack the continental army so the continental army was prepared for battle. and that is why Lydia Darragh was and still famous.

No one really knows if Lydia Darragh has a mother. Though it is believed that a mother to hers existed. Lydia had other siblings that had to have come from a mother. Lydia and her father always spent time together. Then came Lydia's husband named William Darragh. From then on Lydia's last name was no longer Barrington. Back to the mother thing Ibelieve that Lydia Darragh did have a mother but passed away when Lydia was born or even before Lydia was born.
