An interesting fact about Fort Ticonderoga surrounds the patriots capture of it. Only a single guard was on duty at the southern gate. His musket misfired as the patriots approached. The guard ran away and left the way open. The patriots entered and took the Fort. It is said that Ethan Allen exclaimed he was seizing the fort "In the name of the Great Jehovah and the Continental Congress!"
