Depending on where they are coming from the biggest issue is probably the weather. It can get very VERY cold in much of Canada. Just yesterday (Nov 13 2009), Edmonton Canada was -46.6°C / -52°F and was the second coldest weather station on the planet that day.

Aside from that, Canada is a quite peaceful, quite multicultural country that is generally quite tolerant of immigrants. Canadians typically take a lot of pride in being nice people.
