An easy and inexpensive homemade mosquito trap can be made using an empty 2-liter plastic bottle and a few common household items. Cut the bottle into two parts a few inches below the neck where the curved or funnel shaped portion ends. Discard the cap. Turn the funnel portion upside down and insert it into the main part of the bottle, securing it with a piece of tape if needed. Partially fill the bottle with a mixture of about 1 tablespoon of yeast, sugar and warm water. This will attract the mosquitoes then trap them inside the bottle. It will need to be refilled or replaced about once every two weeks.
