Hi, A magnet will remove the iron filings, if you put the magnet inside a plastic bag first you can peel the bag off the magnet leaving the iron filings inside the bag - much easier than trying to scrape them off the magnet later. Adding water to the remaining salt / wood mixture and shaking or stirring will dissolve the salt. The wood shaveings can then be filtered off and washed to get rid of any remaining salt soloution. Finally the water can be evaporated from the salt solution to get the salt back. Hope this helps, Mike.
One way you can separate a mixture of iron filings and salt would be to put them together in a tube/bowl/bottle of water and stir. When the salt appears to be dissolved, pour the water into a dry bowl. Do not let the iron filings fall out. Let the water evaporate. Pour the leftover iron into a bowl. When the water evaporates, only the salt will be left. They will be separate.
Another way may be to have the mixture and a magnet. Use the magnet to collect the salt, as iron has a magnetic force. Left will be the salt and the iron stuck to the magnet.
filtration and distillation are two common separation methods
sieve is an instrument used to separate mixture
A filter paper.
Difference in the boiling points among different byproducts of crude oil is used to separate out each component from a mixture. Fractional distillation is used to carry out this process. This method can also be used to purify water and acetone from a mixture.
I believe it is a hotplate
Use a magnet to remove the iron shavings.
Carbon disulfide can be used to separate a mixture of iron filings and sulfur. This is because carbon disulfide can be used to dissolve sulfur, thus leaving you with the iron filings.
Hover a magnet over the mixture. The iron filings will be attracted to it.A mixture of sand and camphor will be left. Then, separate the mixture of sand and camphor by using sublimation.
Yes, a magnet is one way that can be used to separate a mixture of iron filings and sulfur.
use a magnet
This can be done by the processs of magnetism. Holding amagent near the mixture will cause the iron filings to be attracted out of the sand.
Add concentrated sulphuric acid to the mixture
which method will be used to separate sodium chloride and aluminium particals
water and a magnet
U can separate salt and iron filings from each other by using a bigger magnet . There are other ways too . You can also put both of the mixture in a cup of water and watch as the salt evaporate or disappear . But the iron filings will come to the top . Or spreading the mixture on a table and using a magnet to separate them .
Iron fillings can be separated: - with a magnet - after the dissolution of the mixture, by filtering
