In a nutshell, they recommend replacing struts about every 80,000 miles depending on your driving conditions. I replaced mine at 135,000 on my 1999 Grand Prix. It started bouncing too much on the bumps and making a creaking noise on bumps.

The struts on your vehicle are designed to absorb the bumps and dips in the roadway to give you with smooth comfortable ride. Worn or damaged struts can cause problems like tire wear and bad handling. You should check your struts at least once a year for any signs of damage or wear. Check your tires for signs of cupping, excessive wear on the middle or both sides of the tires. Check for fluid leakage from the struts. Walk to each corner of your vehicle and push down on the bumper and release. It shouldn't bounce more than once. Drive the vehicle and check for any signs of excessive dipping when stopping and check for drifting or swaying.

One reason a cars front end may shake is bad struts. However, it can also be other things such as a bad tire or even if an alignment is needed.

Yes. Bad struts effect the handling of a vehicle. In an emergency situation where you are required to make a quick maneuver, those bad struts can cause you to not be able to avoid an accident. They will also cause your tires to wear out prematurely.Yes. Bad struts effect the handling of a vehicle. Struts are much like what used to be shock absorbers except more expensive to replace. Bad/worn out struts will greatly reduce the handling and control of the vehicle. You can drive the car but it may put you in a dangerous situation. How much do you value your life?

User Avatar

Bad struts make the car handle different, and you may lose control at higher speeds,it also makes your tire become choppy and wear out faster, because the tire is not staying in contact with the road all of the time.

It has Struts and not shocks. If the car is bouncing or floating whenever you hit a dip in the road, or seems to handle poorly, these are signs of worn struts. A leak in one of the struts is also a sign of a bad strut. Mileage is another factor. Struts today will last a long time, but if the car has over 100,000 miles, then more than likely the struts need replacing. As to replacing them, unless you have the proper tools and knowledge, take it to a pro. Serious injury can occur when replacing struts, if you don't know what you are doing.

One may use a "Struts" tutorial to learn about the "Struts" framework, configuration, localization and integration. A great tutorial may be found at the website "Tutorials Point".

bad brake rotors or alignment shocks struts

Bad shocks or struts is one possibility.

Front Rotors can be warped, or bad struts. Had a 90 Camry that steered like a boat on the highway, until the struts were changed.

User Avatar

Usually when they or shocks go bad then the vehicle will bounce more. The shock/struts are supposed to cushion the road surface impact. When bad then you start feeling every little bump in the road.

User Avatar

It sounds like bad struts. Push down on the front of the vehicle as hard as you can and let go. If the vehicle bounces more than one time the struts are bad.

Struts is an Model-View-Controller Framework by the Apache Foundation. Struts comes in two flavors: Struts 1 and Struts 2. Struts 1 is a framework that was built by Craig McClanahan and then donated to the Apache Foundation in 2000. More information on Struts can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_Struts Struts 2, though it may share the name with the former, is quite different. It is essentially version 2 of the WebWork Framework. Both are very competent frameworks for Enterprise class java web applications. There seems to be much more information available for Struts 1 than there is for Struts 2, including tutorials and plugins. When planning a new application, be sure to take into account required functionality. Struts may not be the appropriate answer for all applications.

The vehicle may be hard to keep going straight down the road, tires will show signs of uneven wear, may hear clunks and snaps while driving and turning,

User Avatar

I would say as little as possible, as they are ruining your tires.

As far as behavior, you may see them eat a little or a lot. Some will excuse themselves after a meal to visit the bathroom to vomit. Visually, you may notice bad breath, bad teeth and the person may seem abnormally skinny. Notice that these are not diagnostic signs, only a doctor can verify the cause.
