Religion can be described as belief in a higher power, a worldview, faith that their is a God/order to the world, spirituality, having a meaning for life, where ou obtain your ethics and morality, having an idea about human nature and the universe.
Religion is an instution established by man for various reasons, for example to exert control, instill morality, stroke egos or whatever it does. Organized structured religion all but remove God from the equation. You confess your sins to a clergy member, go elaborate Churches to worship, told what to pray, when to pray. Religion invents, and is based on rules.
