The Tamborito dance from Panama is one of the various folkloric dances of the country, typically the use of "Tambores" (Drums) which its main influence come from the Africans. Drum beats, accents, execution and the sensual projection of rituals suggest the origin of the ¨Tamborito"

The Tamborito is the is the most popular, disseminated, antique and tied to the native land dance of Panama.

The Tamborito Dance is usually composed of two sections. One sections are the musicians, who plays the Tambores to mark the rhythm, pace and type of dance, the other are the groups couples that will individually dance in the middle arena or in front of the "Tamboreros" (drum players), added to the tambores you will also hear the hand claps of women and the typical "Saloma" (vocal sound of men).

There are two main types of tamborito execution, "Tambor Norte" (Northern Drum) and "Tambor Corrido" (Run Drum). What is very important are the "three beats" (Tres Golpes) of the Tambor which marks the tone, anymic state of the performer, region and particular aspects of the ambient influencing the final execution of the tamborito melody.

Among the ways of dancing the Tamborito we find the Tambor de Orden (Orderly) this was and still is a costume of distinguished people to celebrate social events with brilliant order. Participants stand in line while one genteleman goes and with kindness and style ask one of the women to go and dance in the middle, once it is done he returns the lady to the line and he gives the opportunity to other gentleman to dance and select a couple and so on with all of the participants. This type of tambor is with out doubt is a show of high quality from the social and artistic stand point.

Apart from the tambores (drums) some regions also add a violin, small bugle and other instruments to the tamborito dance.
