A cello is a string instrument. In order to play it, a person must pluck or strum the strings.
Woodwind especially the double reed instruments are more difficult with the exception of the French Horn a brass instrument which is probably the most difficult wind instrument of all to play properly.
A tuned instrument can play a tune, but an untuned instrument can only play a rythm.

A "wind instrument" is any musical instrument that you play by blowing into it. Examples include the trumpet, piccolo, ocarina, khalil, recorder, hautboi, jug, tuba, etc.

It is a wind instrument, you blow into a flute therefore it is wind. (I play flute so I didn't just go on theory or make it up either)

Really, the only people who play the English horn exclusively are members of top tier professional orchestras. The English horn is an auxiliary instrument, played by an oboist when needed.
