Mostly, think white flour... bread, donuts, pasta, white rice, and other products made from white flour. People always reply "Soda, candy" but it's the white flour carbs. You need a balanced number of carbs, proteins, fats, and watchful over sugar. But white flour products convert to blood sugar (glucose) so that is most important.

Diabetics should avoid foods rich in sugar. Such foods are candy, snacks, non-Diet Soda, or other sweet foods. Certain types of candy can be low in sugar, but hyper or hypo-glycemic should be careful anyway.

Diabetics should avoid sugary foods such as candy, cakes, cookies and other sweet desserts. Certain natural foods such as pineapples and watermelon are also high in sugar. Diabetics must also watch the amount of carbohydrates they consume which are found in both natural foods such as potatoes as well as items such as bread and pasta. Two good sources for more information are the American Diabetes Association and the Canadian Diabetes Association. Also, it is a good idea to speak to your doctor about seeing a nutritionist in order to develop a diet plan specifically for your needs.
