Well it completely depends as to what the individual likes but a few popular things I can think of are: trading cards, like Pokemon or yugioh booster packs

small LEGO sets, in fact legoshop.com has a section on there web site of good stocking stuffers.

candy, its always nice to get candy in your stocking.

and the biggest thing at my house is video games/movies my parents always put a video game and a movie in our stockings, you can get them really cheap during black Friday I always go out and buy a ton of video games and movies during black Friday.

and if you want to think big you could stick a Nintendo ds or a psp in there.
