Yes, Emily Dickinson attended West Middle District public school then Amherst College, which was located in the town where she grew up. She also left home to study Mount Holyoke. She was so homesick, however, that she only lasted a year at Mount Holyoke before she returned home.

Emily Dickinson was largely self-educated, as she attended Amherst Academy, but only for a brief period. She did not pursue formal higher education. Dickinson's education largely consisted of reading and self-study in a wide range of subjects, including literature, history, and art. Despite her lack of formal education, she is widely regarded as one of the most important American poets in history.
