Western Europe is far more developed, less corruptable (though this is not to say Eastern Europe is corruptable, just less than Western Europe), and less powerful (economically wise and most likely military wise as well). Western Europe has also been more involved in foreign affairs in the global world.
Eastern European culture is different from Western European culture, especially in rural areas. There is still traditional culture (dressing, cuisine, etc.) compared to modern Western culture. Eastern Europe is also much less developed than Western Europe and contains more corrupt nations. Languages are obviously different. Most Eastern European languages are of the Slavic language family while most Western European languages are of the Germanic or Romance language family. Most Eastern European languages use the Cyrillic and Latin alphabets, while all Western European languages (but Greek, who uses the Greek alphabet) use the Latin alphabet.
No countries in Western Europe has any sort of continental climate, as this type of climate is distinctly found only in Eastern Europe. Most Western European nations have an oceanic climate.

Water is a better conductor of heat than land. Since Western Europe has more surface area in contact to water in summer it gets less hotter and in winter it has more moderate climate than Eastern Europe because the sea helps in radiating the heat and cold. The Sea in the West is more moderate in temprature so it helps the western Europe
