The key to Christianity is that Jesus shed his blood and died for the sins of all humankind and that EVERYONE who accepts this will be forgiven all his or her sins, be restored as a child of God and have everlasting life. Christian life is more than this, but everything follows calling upon the name of Jesus (aloud) and be saved first.

Another answer:

Essentially Christian beliefs center around the person and work of Jesus Christ, hence the name Christian. It is the belief of Christians that Jesus Christ was God (from the very beginning of time and so he was involved in the Creation of the world) and still is God as the Bible tells us that he still intercedes for his followers and will one day come again visibly to the earth.

Jesus was born on this earth for the very purpose that he might suffer and die for man, indeed for everyone, even those who hate him. 'For God so loved the world...' This is clearly available for everyone who will accept it. '...That whoever believes on him should not perish but have everlasting life.' John 3 v 16.

Jesus in his own person fulfilled all of the Old Testament requirements, which were then abolished at his death, as symbolized by the tearing of the veil in the temple. It is a fair question to ask why He would do this. The Bible reveals God as a God of perfect justice as well as love and mercy. The Greek word dei which means 'it was necessary' tells us that Jesus' death satisfied the need for justice as well as demonstrating God's love and mercy.

The whole New Testament was written by eyewitnesses (as it claims) to the events recorded there, whose lives were turned upside down by the event of the resurrection. They were in a state of despair because Jesus had been killed, and contrary to their expectation He was alive on the third day.

How a group of largely illiterate and ignorant (by the standards of the day) men turned the world upside down is explained only by this event as well as the 'power from on high', in the person of the Holy Spirit (the third person of the trinity) given at Pentecost as the source of comfort, understanding and power to believers. see 1 Corinthians 15 and Acts 2.

Christians believe that anyone may come to a personal faith in Christ and indeed that it is not through religious rites and works. Ephesians 2 v 8-9. Otherwise there is no assurance as one can never know if one has done enough to please God. Since Jesus has done ,once for all, everything that needs to be done for salvation on the cross of Calvary all that needs to be done is believe it.'And he brought them out and said,Sirs what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved...' Acts 16 v 30-31

Many Bible verses demonstrate these things as well as the fact that believing on Jesus brings a new life of following Him, not to earn anything but out of gratitude and because He is Lord as well as savior. 'But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.' John 1 v 12

Another answer:

Christians believe that God exists in three distinct, yet united entities: The Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. That God is the Sovereign Creator of the Universe, That God always existed, "I AM". That God created man in His own image. "Let us make man in our own image." That man, (Adam and Eve) were at peace with God, communing with Him in the cool of each evening. Satan (as an angel kicked out of heaven) deceived Eve about eating fruit in the garden, and Eve disobeyed God and then caused her husband Adam to sin as well. Sin separates us from God, He alone is Holy, "other than" you and I. God revealed Himself to man as told in the Old Testament, and gave man hope of a Messiah coming. A Deliverer, who would take away the sins of man. Jesus Christ, fulfilled that prophesy. Mary, a sinful fallen woman, (like any other man or woman) was chosen being in the lineage of David, to bare the Christ "anointed" child. Jesus lived a perfect life, without sin, for He was fully God, and fully man. The atonement "price" for sin, is death! (see Romans) Christ's perfect sacrifice, once and for all, satisfied God's wrath against sin, and consequently sinful man. Symbolically, yet literally, when Christ died, the vail in the temple that separated the Holy of Holies, a place where a priest after ceremonial cleansing, would make an animal sacrifice for the sins of his people, that vail was ripped in to! Giving man access to God, directly, without any priest! Jesus wants a 'personal relationship' with Him. Christ rose again, conquering death and sin, and before ascending back to heaven, appeared to hundreds of men and women in the days to come, history bears witness to this record. God's Salvation of his elect, His chosen remnant is certain, Christ's death, exhausted God's wrath against His own! Christ left the Holy Spirit of God, to dwell in the hearts of redeemed men. Jesus said, "you did not choose me, but I chose you!" He also said, "no man comes to me, but the Father draws Him." Salvation belongs to the Lord, and it is His to give--hence, the 'gift' of salvation. I Peter tells us, "we have been sealed with the holy spirit, and have an inheritance that does not spoil, fade, or diminish." Those that Christ has saved "redeemed" are as certain of Heaven, as those that are already there! Sinners saved by grace "saints" are all Christians. We were saved by God, for God, and to God alone. In sin, we had no 'free will' to choose God, the Bible says "dead in our sins, enemies of the cross, once far off, " Dead men don't make decisions, we were slaves to sin, slaves do not make choices! In Christ, we have been freed from sin, to Christ, ''bond servants''. Free will as some say, comes ONLY after salvation. All of this is so cool, for God is a 'jealous' God the Word tells us, "He will not share His glory with another." If we thought for a moment that we 'added' something to salvation,, that it was 'our salvation' then we'd have something to feel good about, 'boast' about. Since salvation belongs to the Lord, and He alone, we can only be grateful for a hell that we'll never see, and humble, (knowing we're unworthy). Christianity, is a relationship with God, at God's choosing, Religion (Catholicism, etc,) is an effort by man, to take things of God, and make them fit mans mindset, and thinking. My pastor has said, "In the beginning, God created man in His own image,,,, and we've been returning the favor ever since!" This is what the catholic religion has done with Christianity. It is no longer a 'true church', as they pridefully boast. It is filled with 'extra-biblical' positions that cannot be supported by contextual scripture. They Deify Mary, they pray to her, (blasphemy). We cry out in prayer to God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, because of Christ's finished sacrifice on Calvary. They have slapped Christ in the face, in the forgiveness of sins by a man, a sinful man. Martin Luther, John Calvin, are men that God used to speak out against the heresies of the catholic church. It was common for the catholic church to use scare tactics, and to tell their congregation that they had to give money, to buy a family member out of hell and purgatory ( a fictitious myth of somewhere between heaven and hell, and that you can ''work'' your way out of their,,, and that no one goes straight to heaven, a lie) The Bible says to be dead, absent from the body, is to be present with Christ! Again, in closing, Christianity is God reaching down to man, to do for man what he could not do for himself, and frankly, didn't know he needed. Religions, like Mormonism, Catholicism, Islam, etc,, are all efforts by man, to 'be good enough' to attain heaven. "It is foolishness to those that are perishing!" Things of God are spiritually discerned. If one is teaching that you can be good enough, and that in addition to God's grace, you have to do this and do that, then it is no "gospel" at all, Gospel means good news! Jesus hated established religions of men, Grace "unmerited favor" of God, sets us free from the performance trap! It is liberating! I don't have to be good enough! I can't be! Jesus fulfilled what I was incapable of being, of doing! This is a great God! I pray that your eyes may be opened to see how wonderful, how deep is the Father's love for His own! We must humble ourselves, for there is no 'saving face' with saving grace.

The Holy Bible -- John 14:16

Christians believe that in the past they didn't have a spiritual relationship with God (they were spiritually dead) and they understand the penalty for this turning away from God is death - Romans 3:23, John 3:5.

Christians believe that God has made it possible for a 'believer" to have a right relationship with Him through the death of His son Jesus - Romans 5:8, Romans 6:23b.

Christians have accepted God's gift of salvation in Christ and have turned away from a life that is not godly and have turned to living a life honouring God - Ephesians 5:8, 5:2, 4:1

Christians have received the Holy Spirit as a down payment/deposit until Christ comes again - Ephesians 1: 13,14, Ephesians 4:30.
We believe in the trinity (God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit)

That Jesus (The Son) came to earth to die for our sins. Three days later he rose again.

One day he'll come back for his followers.

To become a christian you have to ask God into your heart, and admit you wrong doing.

Then after that fundamental Christianity, you have you denominations which differ in there practice.

For me Pentecostal is for me, which is a bit wiled. For those who don't know what on earth it is, I'd say a multilingual gospel church.

That Jesus is the son of God and died to save the souls of sinners.

Matthew 22:36-40 (New International Version)36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

The BeginningThe Bible is the book that God wrote to the world though people that loved and followed Him.

" In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1

"God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them."Genisis 1:27

Man then sinned and was separated from God, because God is perfect and cannot look at sin

Throughout the Bible God's children have to deal with sin, but God always promised them that He would send a savior and helper

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16

Key Beliefs:1) The belief in one God - the maker of everything

2) The belief that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and that he born in human flesh through the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and was crucified to atone for the sins of mankind.

3) The belief that Jesus Christ rose from the dead and went to heaven and that if you believe in Him and follow his teachings, you too will be pardoned of your sins and join him in heaven.

4.) Belief in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Godhead.

The Nicene CreedThe key beliefs of Christianity are summed up by the 'Nicene Creed', the text of which is given below:-

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.

We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

Amen

There are several, but the real keys are that Jesus is the Son of God, that He rose from the dead, That God created the universe, that everything God says is true, and that the whole Bible is true, last, that they will spend eternity in heaven, after this destanation is over.

The core beliefs of Christianity are summarized in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. Jesus died for our sins, was buried, was resurrected, and thereby offers salvation to all who will receive Him in faith. Unique among all other faiths, Christianity is more about a relationship than religious practices. Instead of adhering to a list of "do's and don'ts," the goal of a Christian is to cultivate a close walk with God. That relationship is made possible because of the work of Jesus Christ and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

Beyond these core beliefs, there are many other items that are, or at least should be, indicative of what Christianity is and what Christianity believes. Christians believe that the Bible is the inspired, "God-breathed" Word of God and that its teaching is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21). Christians believe in one God that exists in three persons-the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit.

Christians believe that mankind was created specifically to have a relationship with God, but sin separates all men from God (Romans 3:23; 5:12). Christianity teaches that Jesus Christ walked this earth, fully God, and yet fully man (Philippians 2:6-11), and died on the cross. Christians believe that after His death, Christ was buried, He rose again, and now lives at the right hand of the Father, making intercession for the believers forever (Hebrews 7:25). Christianity proclaims that Jesus' death on the cross was sufficient to completely pay the sin debt owed by all men and this is what restores the broken relationship between God and man (Hebrews 9:11-14; 10:10; Romans 5:8; 6:23).

Christianity teaches that in order to be saved and be granted entrance into heaven after death, one must place one's faith entirely in the finished work of Christ on the cross. If we believe that Christ died in our place and paid the price of our own sins, and rose again, then we are saved. There is nothing that anyone can do to earn salvation. We cannot be "good enough" to please God on our own, because we are all sinners (Isaiah 53:6; 64:6-7). There is nothing more to be done, because Christ has done all the work! When He was on the cross, Jesus said, "It is finished" (John 19:30), meaning that the work of redemption was completed.

According to Christianity, salvation is freedom from the old sin nature and freedom to pursue a right relationship with God. Where we were once slaves to sin, we are now slaves to Christ (Romans 6:15-22). As long as believers live on this earth in their sinful bodies, they will engage in a constant struggle with sin. However, Christians can have victory in the struggle with sin by studying and applying God's Word in their lives and being lead by the Holy Spirit-that is, submitting to the Spirit's leading in everyday circumstances.

So, while many religious systems require that a person do or not do certain things, Christianity is about believing that Christ died on the cross as payment for our own sins and rose again. Our sin debt is paid and we can have fellowship with God. We can have victory over our sin nature and walk in fellowship and obedience with God. That is true biblical Christianity.
