Landforms in Bahrain:

The Deserts: The majority of the island chain almost entirely consists of 'low-lying deserts'. These deserts consist of either sand/sand dunes, gravel, or large solid rocks in the process of eroding into sand.

The 'Wadi': 'Wadi' is the local term for the small low limestone stone hills found in the desert. Generally, they have a few water carved streambeds in them (usually dried up).

The Water: Long ago the Bahrain deserts would have harboured oases, which could support life, however they have all but vanished. The deserts have dried up and there are no above ground springs. However, the country is know to haveunderground springs which the Bahraini can use to draw water.

The Tree of Life: Far in the Southern part of Bahrain island, grows a single Mesquite tree. The tree is currently over 400 years in age, are is believe by some to be the location of The Bible's Garden of Eden.

Mountain of Smoke: On the island of Bahrain an escarpment (not actually a mountain), rises 400 feet above sea level. It is Bahrain's highest point and officially known as Jabal Dukhan. It receives its nickname 'Mountain of Smoke' from themist which often covers its summit.

Beaches: There are several beaches in Bahrain, found spread amungst the islands. Near Manama, we find Manama Corniche and Sitra Beach (by Sitra lagoon); in the southern part of Bahrain Island we find Bapco Beach, Sanabis Beach, and Zallaq Beach; finally on Hawar Island we numerous Hawar Island beach resorts.
