Amazingly, although the Colorado River is one of the largest rivers in the west, it does not flow through any Major city. The Colorado River, which has it's headwaters near the town of Granby, Colorado flows west and southwest through Colorado passing by many small towns, Eagle, Minturn, Parachute, Rifle, etc. The largest town it goes through is Grand Junction where it confluences with the Gunnison River coming in from the southeast. It continues its course southwest where the San Juan River drains into it and then makes its way through the Grand Canyon, which it of course created. As it turns south after Hoover Dam, it forms the western border of Arizona and southeast California. Again, it does not flow through any major city until it emties into the "Sea of Cortez" between the Baja Penisula and mainland Mexico. Las Vegas, Nevada is the largest city which the Colorado comes closest to. JRHatcheraz@gmail.com
