Some interesting facts include: Neptune has 14 moons, it has a very active climate, it is the smallest of the ice giants, it spins on its axis very rapidly, makes one trip around the Sun every 164.8 Earth years and was not know to the ancients. Neptune is the eighth planet from the Sun and is the most distant planet from the Sun.

Neptune is the eighth, or second last, planet in our solar system. It is located between Uranus and Pluto, and is a very long way away from the Sun. Its average distance from the Sun is almost 4.5 billion kilometers., or over thirty times the distance from Earth to the Sun. The orbit, or path, Neptune follows around the Sun is almost a perfect circle. The closest Neptune gets to the Sun is about 4.3 billion kilometers., and the furthest away it gets is a little over 4.6 billion kilometers. At this distance, the Sun is just another bright light in Neptune's sky.

I don't know entirely, but the Great dark spot is the size of the Earth with the fastest winds in the solar system! Also Neptune has heaps of water so it could have life. Its core's pretty cool.

Well, lets see....there is the "12 Moons Summer Cruise" that takes place every three months! There is the "King of the Sea" dance on the moon Triton's highest mountain! Also, lets not forget the rocket ride the kids will enjoy called the "Thread the Rings" rocket ride!

Seriously, Neptune has 13 moons. Like Jupiter, it also has a "Great Dark Spot" which is actually an "anti-cyclonic storm" that was once in the Southern Hemisphere, and now there is one in the northern hemisphere. It also has a smaller "White spot" calles "Scooter" that is a smaller and lighter colored cyclone. Also, like Saturn, it has several rings that are more faint, and less apparent than those of Saturn, but non the less, exist. Another thing is that Neptune is 17 times bigger in mass than the Earth, and its equater is 4 times the diameter of Earths.

  • Colour. Neptune is a deep royal blue. This is caused by the blue light spectrum being reflected into space by the methane gas in the atmosphere
  • Freezing cold
  • Has 5 very faint white-light blue rings
  • Has 13 moons
  • The windiest planet discovered so far, with storms reaching up to 2,000mph
  • Dark spots caused by anticyclonic storms
  • It's made entirely of gas except for the molten core. The gasses are helium, hydrogen and methane

What is Neptune's atmosphere made up of?

The atmosphere of Neptune is similar to all the large planets in the Solar System; it mostly consists of hydrogen and helium, with trace amounts of methane, water, ammonia and other ices. But unlike the other gas planets in the Solar System, Neptune's atmosphere has a larger proportion of the ices. It's the methane in the plant's upper atmosphere that gives it its bright blue color. At the highest altitudes, where the Neptune's atmosphere touches space, it consists of about 80% hydrogen and 19% helium. There's also a trace amount of methane. The light we see from Neptune is actually the reflected light from the Sun. (Although the entire spectrum of light hits Neptune.) This trace amount of methane absorbs light from the red end of the spectrum, while allowing the blue light to bounce back out. The color of Neptune's atmosphere is brighter than Uranus, which has a similar atmosphere; astronomers aren't sure why there's such a dramatic color difference.

What planet Farthest planet from the sun?

Depends whether you include Pluto as a planet or not (I think it isn't at the moment - but it does seem to swap back and forth!). So, if you include Pluto, then it's Pluto. If you include all the dwarf planets (of which Pluto is one) - then its Eris. Otherwise, it's Neptune
