Pros and Cons are dependent upon the specific laptop considered. Pros are that HP laptops tend to be sturdy, very compatible with HP printers and other devices, and a good value. Cons are that they tend to have a lot of excess pre-loaded software.
I am at a loss here. I suggest that you check with the Acer Computer website. I do know they are considered an emachine, produce desktop/laptop computer. Acer computers previously had a problem with a burn hazard due to short circuiting and over heating. I gather with more updated models this has been resolved. Still I view Acer computers as being comparable to other makers of computers such as Dell.
In my experiences with Dell (had a desktop that lasted 5 years)
Here's what I can come up with...
Pros:
Pre-built/Assembled
Easier to order (phone/online)
Many options to choose from
Returnable in some cases
Fixable by their experts
Warranty (if you purchase it)
Cons:
Customer Service (Can be horrible, call waiting, etc.)
Okay for reliability
Overpricing exists (be careful)
For many people, Dell Computers' biggest advantage is also their biggest disadvantage: Dell Computers doesn't spend money on expensive shops and sales staff. Instead, all sales are made over the telephone or internet, and all purchases are delivered by mail (or via courier).
This leads to an economical advantage. Compared to many of its competitors, Dell can offer computer systems, often even customizable (a choice of processors, or a choice of hard disk drives, etc), at a competitive price, as it saves the cost for shops and staff.
However, this means that there are no shops to go into an inspect systems prior to the purchase, and there is no direct sales staff to consult with in a personal conversation.
OTHER THAN THAT?...DELL SUCKS IN MY OPINION
There are really no brands that are better than others, except for dell(do not get them). The main thing you want to look at is the parts of the computers, processor, video card, ram, hard drive and so on. If you are interested, i build computers and have two for sale, My email address is Sixopace@comcast.net.
