Pterosaur (Pterodactyl)

What are some reasons that paleontologists link microraptor with caudipteryx and not pterodactyls?

Because pterosaurs are not feathered, while caudipteryx's very

name means, tail-feather. Microraptor, unlike any known animal in

the world, had four feathered wings. Additionally, there are more

skeletal similarities between microraptor and caudipteryx, with

them both being theropods while pterosaurs were an entirely

different group of animals.
