Typically, trombone players play trombone. Sometimes, trumpet players will attempt to play the trombone. They often must rely on valve trombones since the valve system is the same between the two instruments.
Primarily,drums, a brass bass (tuba), trumpet or cornet, trombone, clarinet and banjo.

Very wide slide vibrato. If you need an example, you should listen to "Frame for the Blues" as played by Maynard Ferguson and his band on youtube. There aren't a huge number of slide vibratos, but there's one REALLY dirty one.
