Verbs don't describe.

Verbs show actions eg run walk listen hammer saw

or they show states eg love like hate know.

Adjectives describe. Some adjectives come from the participle form of a verb and often end in -ed or -ing. A few -ing adjectives to describe the noun friend are caring, loving, and supporting.
