∙ 10y agoIf you take Depakote for a seizure disorder, a low therapeutic level may produce no symptoms at all - but there is always a risk (depending on how low the level has dropped) for having "break-through" seizures.
If you take Depakote for Bipolar disorder, especially for manic episodes, you may feel yourself starting to "cycle up," such as insomnia, irritability, talkativeness, impaired judgment and a host of other symptoms.
The therapeutic level is between 50 and 125 mcg/mL. The maximum recommended dose is 60 mg/kg/day. Everyone is different, though, so someone may need a much higher dose to keep them stabilized, while someone else would need a lower dose.
