This is to make us clean so we are worthy to accept the humble offering that we make to the Lord. These prayers are very similar to those of petition, but there is a distinct difference. In prayers of intercession we are asking praying for others. In this prayer we enter into the pain of others and plead with God on their behalf. These are the one type of prayer that includes the saints. We can ask these servants of God already in Heaven to pray for us just as we ask our friends on earth to pray for us. Whether we ask people to pray for us or saints, they are both examples of intersession. Our intercessory prayers should occasionally have a global dimension and not be confined to family and friends. Prayers for government and church leaders, prayers for all involved in research for a cure for the diseases that inflict our human family, prayers for all who are suffering from sickness, violence, grief and their caregivers, prayers for those who daily work to alleviate the needs of the poor or more. Prayers of petition are the type of prayer we are most familiar with. This is probably the most common type of prayer. In them, we ask God for things we need primarily spiritual needs, but physical ones as well. We bring our requests before God for ourselves, our family, or our friends. Our prayers of petition should always include a statement of our willingness to accept God's will, whether He directly answers our prayer or not. We need to remember that the primarypurpose of the prayer of petition is not for God to give us what we are asking for, but rather that through our prayers of petitions our relationship with God is deepened. If our primary focus is on us getting our needs met, we run the high risk of having only a utilitarian relationship with God. We only run to him when we are in trouble. No one, including God, likes to be used in that way. At Mass petitions are read, but petitions can be said anytime or anywhere. Prayer doesn't have to be limited to one place. While we can pray anywhere the greatest prayers are those before the Eucharist, where the veil between Heaven and earth is at its thinnest and God is truly present. The Our Father is another good example of a prayer of petition, and the line "Thy will be done" shows that, in the end, we acknowledge that God's plans for us are more important than what we desire. In other words, we are not praying to a reluctant or stingy God (see Luke ll:5-9). Over the years, lots of people have said to me "I never pray for myself." In my opinion that would be a huge mistake. Praying for our needs expresses our dependency on God. Failing to pray for ourselves would seem to be saying: "I don't need you God. Just help those other poor people." I assume none of us would ever want to think or act in that way. We all need God, like it or not, and this type of prayer is good to show that. Giving God the thanks that He deserves. Perhaps the most neglected type of prayer is prayer of Thanksgiving. We were created and redeemed by Him yet He continues to bless us and love us. God is deserving of all respect, yet this type of prayer is the least common one. What would happen if you one day you couldn't give thanks to God? What would happen if you suffered from a horrible condition and could no longer give God thanks? Remember to thank Your One God for His unexplainable love and blessings. The greatest expression of thanksgiving should be after one receives the Eucharist. While Grace before Meals is a good example of a prayer of thanksgiving, we should get into the habit of thanking God throughout the day for the good things that happen to us and to others.

Some pray through saints. And no they dont pray to a saint like you do to God. Its like youre asking the saint to pray for you, like you would ask a friend to pray for you. They also pray the rosary, which is a sequence of prayers. They also just pray like any others christian, straight to God or Jesus. They also pray through the intercession of Mary. They believe that Christ came to this world to us through Mary, so we must do the same to seek Jesus.
