The Roman numerals denote the ordinal of the Super Bowl. The first Super Bowl probably had no numeral associated with it originally, but is now known as Super Bowl I (the first), while the next was Super Bowl II (the second), and so on. Super Bowl XLVI (the forty-sixth) took place on 5th February, 2012, where New York Giants won 21 to 17 against New England Patriots. The next Super Bowl is Super Bowl XLVII (the forty-seventh) which is scheduled for 3rd February, 2013, at the Mercedez-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
