Climate change is more than just global warming; it is also associated with more prolonged droughts, more frequent severe floods and more intense storms, as well as higher ocean storm surges and rising sea levels, all of which are predicted t result from global warming. In some cases, this is expected to lead to land erosion and in others to inundation of rich coastal lands or partial inundation and salination.

Some of the predicted effects will be:

• More frequent and more severe extreme weather events, including hurricanes and tornadoes
• The best estimate currently available for the present century is a sea level rise of between 0.9 and 1.5 metres. Along with increased storm surges, this will result in inundation of coastal areas, salination of low-lying agricultural land and the displacement of entire populations from parts of Bangladesh and the Pacific Island nations.

1. Climate change now is showing up mostly in the Arctic Circle where the ice has been disappearing for the past century. It is predicted that loss would continue in this area.

2. Mountain ranges, such as the Himalayas have seen no change in their ice levels for the past several years, but the ice patterns and areas have changed. Lower level ice has reduced while upper level ice has increased. If global warming is real, we will expect this ice to start to disappear.

3. The Antarctic has seen some glacial loss but the total volume of ice has increased. If global warming is man induced, we would expect this trend to reverse.

4. Sea levels are rising at the slowest rates of many years. If global warming is true, we will expect to see these levels increase soon.

5. Warming of the Troposhere seems to have stopped temporarily. If global warming is true, the prediction is that this area will start warming again.
