It is bad to chew Chewing Gum in class because the teacher will catch us or

(new) it is actually good for your learning to chew gum in class because tastes and sounds help people remember things so if you chew gum while studding chew it during your test and you will have a better chance of remembering what you studied.
I agree with the above answer, but it needs explanation: Chewing gum, first of all is a rule, and regardless of why the rule was made it should be followed. Second, when you study, you should do it as much as you can in the same same stimuli in which you will take the test. So, if it is quiet when you are taking a test, then study in a quiet place.
Now, as far as the question about the chewing gum, if you are to be allowed to chew it during the test, then chew it when you are studying so that you can replicate the environment that is familiar and allow for more recall and higher success.

Gum, as long as it is sugar free. Acid drops, obviously contain acids which wear away at the enamel of your teeth and can eventually cause stains. Sugar free gum on the other hand does not have the negative effects of staining or wearing away of the enamel.
