If you aren't a donor yourself, but would still wish to receive blood, then you aren't being very honest. And if all were like you, the system would collapse. And people would start dying from injuries and operations they would have survived with a blood donation system in place.
As a person with AB negative blood type I donate reguarly. I do so because I have an extremely high platelet count. My M.D. suggested I do this routinely and I try to do so about once a month. I am a 64 year old retired nurse and am very aware of the need for platelets.
