Do you mean the Book of Psalms? 'Psalms' is usually pronounced <>or sometimes <>. So it can sound like they're saying "songs." There's also a "Song of Solomon" as it is called in English Bibles.

The Psalms are at the "geographical center" of The Bible. Stand a bible up on its spine and choose what appear to be the central pages and you'll be in Psalms. Easy to find.

"Psalms" may represent some of our oldest poetry that we still have. Many of them are attributed to King David and some of them may actually date to that time or even earlier. But their real dates are a matter of much study by scholars. The psalms we have are translated from ancient Hebrew. The Book of Psalms is a collection of 150 psalms.

Poets, novelists and songwriters of today often draw upon the psalms for their own writings.
