Axel seals leaking grease on the brake shoes.
Wheel cylinders leaking brake fluid.
To much brake dust in the drums.
Plesae cancel this reqeust
I don't remember 1985 Chevy 1/2 ton pickupshaving rear disc brakes. It should be a drum brake in the rear and disc brakes in front.
under the knob, there should be a locking nut on the shift rod. Loosen this and the knob should just unscrew
Yes, but never trust them to work. Every six thousand miles the drums should be pulled off and brakes cleaned and adjusted. That is when the tires are off for a rotate anyhow.
a blown transmission
One half feeds the front brakes and the other half feeds the rear brakes. If one half fails the other half helps you stop but not as efficiently.
I don't know exactly, but check a mid seventy's half ton van. ya may get lucky
It is unlikely that you will get any brakes unless you work in the automotive sector.
check the manual locking hubs or the u joints and had the same problem and it was the hubs
If this has the locking tilt wheel it is better to find a salvage yard and get the entire steering assembly . Can get for around $100. Parts and time for replacing the Ignition assembly if you can do it at all will not be worth the effort.
The Ford locking hubs allow you to manually disconnect the front wheels of your vehicle from the front half shafts. This basically shuts the 4 wheel drive off.
Half ton.
