What are the characteristics of a man of war?

Man of wars (Physalia physalis) are very unique jellyfish. They are, along with other members of the order, Siphonophora, a colony of specialized, yet integrated individuals called zooids. Unlike a colony of bees, ants, or even corals, these colonial individuals are too interdependent to survive alone, but it is fascinating that they begin life as individuals before they differentiate into to one of four types of zooids that synergistically make up a man of war colonial individual (called a zoon). Each zooid contributes to one of four functions- movement, catching prey, feeding, or breeding.
