What are three operations managed by operating system?
What is hardware stack and software stack?
hardware stack - a stack implemented in and entirely managed by hardware, this stack will have dedicated memory and registers in the physical hardware of the system. software stack - a stack implemented with and entirely managed by software, this stack will use a small piece of main RAM and variables declared in the program software (making it much easier to modify if necessary than a hardware stack).
Difference between system software and operating software?
Assuming that you mean the difference between system software (the term used by Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo to refer to the operating systems used by the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii respectively) and operating system, the difference is very minor. If you mean the difference between system software and an operating system in the PC world, the term system software usually applies to things like the Device Manager in Windows or the Logical Disk Manager; software that comes pre-installed with the operating designed to interact with hardware on a fundamental level. The term "operating software" when not used synonymously with "operating system" is usually used interchangeably with the term "system software" in the PC world, but it can also refer to software used to completely managed an external system.

What is the function of system software regarding application software?
System software includes operating systems such as devise drivers, severs, windowing systems, and utilities. System software runs the hardware and computer system. The two main categories of system software are operating systems and utility software. Functions of system software are: The three major functions of system software are allocating system resources, monitoring system activities, and disk and file management. 1. Allocating system resources: The system resources are time, memory, input, and output. The time in the CPU is divided into time slices. The time slices is measured in terms of milliseconds. Based on the priority of tasks the time slices are assigned. Memory is also managed by operating system. Disk space is the part of main memory. The data flow is controlled by operating system. 2. Monitoring system activities: The system security and system performance is monitored by system software. System performance includes response time and CPU utilization. System security is a part of operating system. Multiple users can't access without the security code or password. 3. File and disk management: The user needs to save, copy, delete, move and rename the files. The system software will handles those functions. Disk and file management is the technical task.

How the four elements of a computer system interact to create a computer?
Assuming those 4 elements are the processor, memory, hard drive and motherboard. The hard drive stores all your files no matter if the computer is on or not. The memory is were the files from your hard drive go so the files can be easily managed since memory is much faster then the hard drive (mechanical vs. electrical). The processor handles all of the operations of the computer and the motherboard is the highway system that transfers the information to the various components. Is a virtual memory a special chip inside the hard disk?
No. Virtual memory is a file stored on the disk and managed by the operating system software. As needed the operating system copies blocks of internal memory out to this file to free internal memory and copies blocks from this file to internal memory when a program needs it again. To assist the operating system in this task the computer has to have virtual memory management hardware and interrupts. All of the hardware that is involved directly in the operation of virtual memory is part of the computer, not the harddisk.

What are the Advantages of firewall?
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_are_the_Advantages_of_firewall Advantages of hardware firewalls over software firewall: · Speed: Normally, the hardware firewalls are tailored for faster response times, and hence handle more traffic loads. · Security: A firewall with its own operating system (proprietary) is less prone for attacks. This in turn reduces the security risk. In addition, hardware firewalls have enhanced security controls. · No Interference: A box, that is separated from other network components can be managed better, and does not load or slowdown other applications. The box can be moved, shutdown, or reconfigured with minimal interference to the network. http://networking.anandsoft.com/advantages-of-hardware-firewalls.html

How do you identify what is in your computer cache?
You don't identify what is in your computer's cache, because the cache is managed by the hardware and the operating system. To understand the contents, you would need to understand the design of the system, and you would need to do this while the operating system is not running, because the cache is constantly changing. If you are concerned about security, you can set your pagefile to be cleared on shutdown. You can (and should) also design any security sensitive software to use non-paged memory where needed, so that clear-text data is never stored on the hard drive.
