if you are an adult (18+) they (adults who disagree with your choices and health care people) can say you do not have the ability to take care of yourself because you are not making healthy choices- this can lead to you being givin a guardian and being unable to make decisions legally without the guardians consent. if you get caught and are asked if you would attend treatment it is best if you want to keep your ability to be a self consenting adult that you say yes and let them sign you up even if you beleive youll use when you get out you still made a decision that they see as able to care for self and future rationally thus making it more likely they will not say you are mentally unstable an unable to care for self- which sometimes they say during a behavioral health assessment if you have used drugs in the past even if you dont have prior mental health problems.

The penalty varies from state to state, but could become a felony if too much of it is possessed (+ 12 months in jail, voting rights revoked, etc.) * The consequences depend upon the drug, the amount, the area in which the person was caught with the drugs (drug free school or school area), any prior convictions or incidents with law enforcement and the criminal judicial process. The outcome of any criminal charge or trial or the results of any subsequent sentencing can be determined even when the all the facts of the case are known.
