Nope... the data on a DVD-ROM is packed much tighter. A CD-ROM cannot read DVD's but a DVD-ROM can read CD's

Insert it into the drive and allow it to cycle. There is audio content on the disk so if it plays, the drive should still be good. If not, and it rejects it, Replace the drive. Go on line to xboxguru.com and see if they have a replacement drive. The average 50 to 75 bucks.
