its the same yes. ============ Incorrect. Many pickup-selector switches are toggle switches, such as on a Gibson Les Paul. But many, many Guitars have toggle switches that do not act as pickup selectors. For example, a Gretsch 6118 Anniversary has a toggle switch to activate a bassy tone circuit. A Brian May Guitar signature has toggle switches for phase options on the three Burns Tri-Sonic pickups, and separate toggles for on/off on the pickups. Some guitars have a toggle switch that activates a mid-boost or volume boost. "Toggle switch" is just a broad term for a family of switches that can serve a variety of functions. Not necessarily for pickup selection.

Most of the time, there are two types of pickup selector switches apparent in electirc guitars, 3 way and 5 way switches.

3 way switches are usually used for guitars with a HH (2 humbucking pickups) configuration, while 5 way switches are usually used for guitars with an SSS or HSS or HSH (3 single-coil pickups or 1 humbucker and 2 single-coil pickups or 2 humbuckers and 1 single-coil pickup) configuration. There are exceptions, however. For example, on many PRS guitars with a HH configuration you may find a 5 way rotary switch that allows more versatility than a 3 way switch.

On an hss strat what does the humbucker do and is it a dual pickup setup or is it one pickup one humbucker?

The humbucker is a dual coil pickup that drastically reduces noise versus single coil pickups. A humbucker is also less bright than a single coil pickup. The selector switch is 5 way Position 1: Humbucker Position 2: Split coil humbucker (like a single coil) Position 3: Middle Position 4: Middle and Neck (like a humbucker) Position 5: Neck

What do the pickups on an electric guitar make?

~ The placement of pickups generate different sounds. The pickup closest to the neck (fretboard) will give you a deeper, bass sound. The pickup closest to the Bridge will give you a brighter, more treble of a sound. Electric Guitars have one to 3 pickups depending on the manufactures design and the tone they are trying to produce. Pickups also vary in sound depending on the construction of the pickup. The composite and size of the wire, along with the amount of turns (The full number of wraps around) produce a lighter or heavier sound. The potentiometers (volume and tone pots) used also have a tone quality to the over-all sound the pickup produces. ~ Pickup Switch Switch set to Treble, uses the pickup closest to the Bridge. While the switch set to Rhythm, uses the pickup closest to the neck. The switch should follow the direction of the placement of the pickups. Whether it's a 2 or 3 pickup guitar, the switch works from neck to bridge, controlling one or more of the pickups. 2 Pickup guitar ~ A Two pickup guitar will have a 3-way switch. The Rhythm position, up or towards the neck position, controls only the neck pickup. Moving the switch to the next position, middle, controls both the neck and bridge pickups. Moving the switch to the Treble position, down or towards the bridge, controls only the bridge pickup. 3 Pickup guitar ~ A Three pickup guitar should use a 5-way switch which works similar to the 3-way switch, except it allows the control of the middle pickup. The switch has 5 positions. Starting at the Bridge pickup, is position 1, (switch towards the bridge) the bridge pickup is the only pickup on , and working the neck pickup, is position 5, (switch is towards the neck) the neck pickup is the only one on. The 3rd position (switch is in the middle position) is working the middle pickup only, as it would be the only one on. Switch positions 2 an 4 work both pickups to either side. Position 2 works both the bridge and middle pickup, while position 4 works both the middle and neck pickup.

How do you set the time on the sdi technologies hh211 alarm clock?

You need to take the top plate off. There's two small Phillips head screws on the back of the radio. Remove the top screw and the top plate lifts off. There is one toggle switch that says "Lock Off On". Toggle the switch to Off to unlock the time of day. There is a small button next to it that says "Time Set". Press it once and the time of day will start blinking. Press the "Alarm Time" buttons on the front of the radio forwards or backwards to set the correct time of day. Once the time is correct, move the toggle switch back to On to lock the time in and replace the top cover. I had to pull off the "Jazz" and "Pop" button tops to clearly see the time of day toggle switch and time set buttons. They just sit on top of the actual buttons so replace them prior to replacing the top cover. I'm in a Hilton at the Ft. Lauderdale airport and the top screw was missing. Looks like the maintenance guys have to come by pretty often to correct the time and lost the screw the last time they did it.

Can you use a electric guitar pickup on a acoustic guitar?

No, it doesn't quite work like that. You can get a pickup for acoustics but not like a humbucker out of say, a Gibson Les Paul.

What is the switch on electric guitar in the top left corner like you see on Slash's guitar for?

All electric guitars have this switch but it varies from guitar to guitar. it is called the pickup selector switch. It is used for deciding on which pickup to use on the guitar. On a les paul style guitar it can be used to select the neck (traditionally rythm pickup), bridge (traditionally used for lead) and both pickups together. =================== That's what it is on a normal Gibson Les Paul. But on a Gibson Les Paul BFG, that is a "kill" switch that turns the guitar off completely. On many Gretsches, the toggle switch is a tone switch flipping between bassier and more trebly sounds. On most Fenders, that switch is down on the lower bout by the volume/tone controls (but on a Telecaster Deluxe, the switch is where it'd be on a Les Paul). Then there are oddities like the Italia Rimini, which has no pickup selector switch -- just individual volume controls for the two pickups. Every guitar has a different design. You'd have to look into every model.

What is the difference between toggle switch and a push button?

A toggle switch is like a light switch. You flick (or 'toggle') the switch on or off and it stays in that position until you flick it again. You could compare a push button switch to a key on a keyboard. When you press a key momentarily it will display one letter on the screen. If you hold down the key, the same letter will repeat (e.g. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa). Toggle switches can also look like push button switches. Most power buttons on a desktop computer tower is a toggle switch. The reset button on a computer tower is a push button switch.

How do you replace gas fireplace switch?

This depends on the switch. A lot of older fireplaces have a millivolt valve with a toggle-switch sticking out. We usually remove the toggle switch and run the 2 wires that were connected to the toggle to a remote receiver box. This way any simple remote transmitter will act like an electrical toggle switch. Most receivers will recognize hundreds of thousands of signals so this is usually very convenient and takes about 3 minutes to turn a manual switch into a remote switch.

Your 91' f-150 50 auto is almost dead how do you bypass the ignition switch from the wiring plug using toggle switches and buttons?

I haven't been able to do everything like that, but to bypass the starter switch, run a wire from the accessory fuse to a toggle switch, and then connect the switch to the 3rd bolt on the starter solenoid.

Can someone explain the use of the 1 one tone knob and the 5 way pickup switch on the Ibanez E-guitar and what settings to use for what sounds?

A 5 way selector is commonly found on guitars with 3 pickups , a humbucker in the bridge , single coil in the middle and a humbucker in the neck. So the 5 way selectors job is to select only one or more pickups at a time to offer different sounds on the guitar. The way the selector is pointed will tell you which pickup is selected and this is common on guitars from all brands. The bottom position is your bridge pickup which is closest to where the strings begin , the middle position is all 3 pickups and the top position closest to the neck is your ....you guessed it neck pickup. The bridge pickup will offer heavier sounds if you play the right notes and the neck for soloing as the output (intensity) of the neck pickup isn't as powerful as the neck for a reason. The more you play the more you'll see uses for switching pickups on the selector. The tone knob on the other hand it depends on how you use it I know a lot of guys who are endorsed and so forth who never touch the tone knob or have guitars built without it , but used properly it can do a lot of stuff from Eric Clapton to Carlos Santana type stuff. you will also see a 5 way selector on guitars with two humbuckers this feature is called a mega or super switch depending on brand. It makes the pickups do different stuff but this feature is usually found on expensive guitars and keep in mind a 3 way blade switch looks like one but only goes in three positions. Bridge , middle and neck.
