*The water cycle, Trees draw water up through their roots and release it into the atmosphere. In Amazonia over half of all the water circulating through the ecosystem remains in the plants. With removal of part of the forest, it cannot hold as much water. The effect of this could be a drier climate. * Extinction of species which need the forest for survival. Forests contain more than half of the animals on our planet - as the habitat of these species is destroyed, so the numbers of species die.
The environment is affected by forest use because the environment is made up out of 3 genral catagories. Animals, Humans and Plants. Animals and humans need the oxygen given off by trees, and by cutting down the forests, we are limiting our oxygen. Another effect is that there are types of trees in the forests that we don't know about that could hole the cure for diseases such as AIDS, cancer and Diabeties! Hope this helps =)
