Africa, Asia, and Australia are home to the various python species. The Rock and Burmese pythons are currently, through escaped animals, are populating south Florida, and are becoming a danger there to local wildlife and suburban human populations. Efforts are now underway to eradicate the snakes.
Rice is so important because in South-East Asia, the environment is good for rice (rain, wildlife;etc.) It is also healthy and considered very valuable.
