The basic event in the 1st chapter is Scout telling the end of the story without getting in to, to much detail. So, you won't know what will happen at the end. Another event is Scout telling the beginning of what started everything.
In Chapter 6 of "To Kill a Mockingbird," Scout and Jem find presents hidden in the knothole of a tree, their snowman is destroyed, and they discover that Nathan Radley has filled the knothole with cement.

-When Jem and Scout find items consisting of gum, a spelling bee medal, a gold broken watch and chain, and wood-carved miniatures of Jem and Scout within the hole of the tree on the corner of the Main Residential street.
-When Jem, Dill and Scout follow Atticus into town to find him guarding the jail and protecting Tom Robinson from the gang trying to kill him. This is a critical moment because the gang would have tried to harm Atticus as well if Scout hadn't have run over and talked to Mr. Cunningham. This action in itself gets the gang to leave.
-The fire that starts at Mrs. Maudie's house and almost spreads down the Main Residential Street.
-When Jem, Scout and Dill sneak into the Radley yard and get shot at. Scout and Dill make it out however Jem gets stuck and gets his pants stuck on the fence. Jem leaves them and runs home. When he comes back they're nicely stitched and hung on the fence this shows Boo Radley's kindness.
-When Mrs. Dubose calls Atticus a "negro lover" when Jem and Scout walk by her home, because of this crude remark Jem goes off to town and buys tree clippers to clip the tops off her flowers in anger.
-When Aunt Alexandra arrives in Maycomb to make Scout more of a lady.
-The trial of Tom Robinson.
-When Tom Robinson "trys to escape" the prison and is killed by being shot 17 times.
-When Jem and Scout are stalked by intoxicated Mr. Ewell and attempted to be killed. Luckily, Boo saves the day and kills Mr. Ewell before he could kill Jem and Scout.
It's when Atticus and Dill and Jem and Scout do it with each other and make babies lmfao.
It's a good book, you should read it.
