All mammals are endothermic, meaning they are warmblooded. A lamb is an endothermic. The only other vertebrates (has backbone/spine) that are endothermic are birds. Birds have feathers and hard eggs. Lambs do not.
The physical features of pigs can vary. The range in sizes from very small to very large. They also come in a variety of colors from pink to black to even spotted. They have curly tails and a snout for a nose.

Lambs are used to represent innocence. the dying lamb indicates that innocence has been destroyed. either the speaker has witnessed a child loose their innocence, or the speaker themselves has been violated. tone change in second verse indicates the speakers reflection. nobody will remember the lamb for the innocent, pretty plaited lamb, just for a putrid lamb on a slant hill.
