There are many places of interest in Puerto Rico. These include Castillo San Felipe del Morro, Old San Juan, Camuy River Cave Park, Cathedral of San Juan Bautista, as well as San Juan National Historic Site.
The "big 3"
El Morro (frotress) and Old San Juan
El Yunque (rain forest, mountain and nature preserve)
Luquillo Beach (White sand half-moon beach with turqoise water and VERY calm surf --- can be combined in one trip with El Yunque)
There are a ton of other attractions besides the natural beauty and very inviting, friendly people of PR. Just a few below:
Casino and Hotel at "El San Juan" Isla Verde. --Isla Verde beach is very nice and this hotel is something special (at least it was the last time I was there)
Arecibo Radio Telescope (It is a sight to see, but only takes an hour or so to see the entire facility open to the public.)
La palguera - Phosphorescent bay. Good seafood, great beaches.
Scuba divers will love the Underwater gardens near Fajardo. Snorklers can also get their fill around that area.
La Cruz del Vigia high above Ponce and then visit the central square of Ponce (Parque de Bombas) and see the red and black fire engine museum. (don't worry, free and NOT a musty museum.)
Casa BacardÃ. Bacardi distillery near San Juan.
Surfers might want to give "Rincón" a try. It is fabled as the best Surfing spot on the island.
Capilla de San Germán (chapel of San German) is worth a quick look-see. It is typical Spanish Missionary style construction. The whole square is scenic.
You can go on a "food safari" there are a TON of "comidetes" (food stands and small outdoor restaurants) in and around the island. Along the beach just east of the main airport and along the central mountains are some great places to go. At Luqullo beach there is a "strip mall" of comidetes serving all sorts of local food. By all means STAY AWAY from the chain fast food joints like McDonalds and Taco Bell. There's just too much good local food to be had.
Puerto Rico has some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the northern hemisphere. The waterfall formations are a must see, like El Yunque and the Camuy Caves. These are some of the most popular, but there are so many to see.
San Juan the capital, Ponce the second largest and Mayaguez the third largest city.
IN THE MORNING TO EL YUNKE, IN THE AFTERNOON TO BAYAMON MALLS AND AT NIGHT SAN JUAN CLUBS.
Salinas Puerto Rico
