What are two examples of tectonic plates?
There are 15 tectonic plates that make up the earth's crust and they are: African Plate, Antartica Plate, Arabian Plate, Caribbean Plate, Cocos Plate, Eurasian Plate, Indian, Indo-Australian Plate, Juan de Fuca Plate , Nazca Plate, North America Plate, Pacific Plate, Philippine Plate, Scotia Plate and South America Plate.

What type of weathering cause rock formation?
Erosion, or deformation. The water will slowly chip off the bits of lose rock. Deformation is when tectonic plates collide causing bending, or folding in the crust. The same for Covergent Boundries, when plates collide, Divergent Boundaries, when plates pull apart, and then Transform Boundaries, like the San Andreas fault. It took me 15 days to learn this, you 30 seconds. ! :)
Asked in Japan, Earthquake in Japan 2011
How did Japan have this big earthquake 2011?
This horrible earthquake was caused by; tectonic plates, these plates were basically shoved under another plate which caused the earthquake. Some quakes move back and forth and some earthquakes; like this Japans move plates under other ones. The plates are called "The Ring of Fire" which circles around the Pacific ocean. Hawaii is smack in the middle of this ring plate. Japan's plates are 15 miles under the pacific ocean's sea floor. Please view the related source link for more explanations and photos.

Why is California famous for all of its earthquakes?
Because it's located on one of the 7 plates. The tectonic plates. They consist of divergent and convergent boundaries. The land of California is a convergent boundary and the ocean is divergent. When they push together it forms mountains or volcanoes. When Earthquakes happen it's because they're pulling apart and releasing tension. Hope that helps because I'm only 15 and I just learned this in science! Good luck!
