The planets in the solar system can be sorted to two types: inner planets that are the four closer planets to the Sun, which are rocky and small. And outer planets which are the four other planets which are gaseous and very large.
The outer planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
They are called the outer planets because they are on the opposite side of the asteroid belt from the Sun.
Because they are the 4 planets that are the furthest from the Sun.
Inner Planets are...Mercury,Venus,Earth,Mars Outer Planets are...Jupiter,Saturn,Uranus,Neptune
Because the four inner planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars) are the four planets closest to the sun. These smaller planets are all inside the asteroid belt. The larger planets: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune) are outside the asteroid belt and thus called the outer planets.
Generally, the outer planets are called Gas Giants, however, Uranus and Neptune are now referred to as Ice Giants.
The 4 Inner planets (mostly rocky and solid):MercuryVenusEarthMarsThe 4 Outer planets (mostly dense gaseous atmospheres):JupiterSaturnUranusNeptuneNotes:Pluto, a dwarf planet, was an outer planet before it got reclassified, but resembles the inner planets. The inner and outer planets are separated by the asteroid belt. When dwarf planets are included, Ceres counts as an inner planet and all the other dwarf planets count as outer planets.
The Outer planets are often referred to as Gaseous planets. The others are the "inner planets" or rocky planets.
The inner planets are small, the outer planets are huge in comparison. The inner planets have rocky surfaces, the outer planets are gas giants. All of the outer planets have rings. None of the inner planets does. All of the outer planets have several moons, some of them quite large.
Gas giants.
They are also referred to as the outer planets.

Very little is known about the make up of the surface of the outer planets. The outer planets are generally referred to as gas giants. While most of them are made up of mostly gasses, it is is believed that their cores are made up of liquified heavy metals.
Inner planets. are inner & outer planets. are outer
its not different at all they are just outer planets
The outer planets are larger.
The outer planets are the planets that are made of gas. Each of the outer planets are mad of gas and can not hold life.
