An epithelial cell has the same basic parts as almost every other human (or animal) cell. 1) A nucleus. This is the 'control centre' of the cell. It contains the genes, which store the information needed by the cell to carry out its activities. 2) Cytoplasm. This is the bulk of the cell, where most of the chemical reactions needed to keep the cell alive take place eg respiration. 3) Cell membrane.
